Get to Know Ben
Ben Griego has over 10 years of professional experience as both an upright and electric bass player. A Seattle native entrenched in the rock and metal scene from a young age, Ben relocated to the vibrant entertainment hub of Nashville where he graduated from Belmont University in 2018 with a bachelor's in Music Performance and a Composition emphasis. During his university studies of jazz, funk, fusion, and soul, Ben had the opportunity to study with Grammy-nominated bassist Adam Nitti, Nashville Symphony bassist Craig Nelson, and Eastman University graduate Bruce Dudley. A prolific composer and arranger, Ben has arranged charts for Belmont's prestigious Jazz Band I ensemble and founded Brain Salad, winner of "Best Jazz Group" in the 2020 Nashville Industry Music Awards.
Since writing and arranging Brain Salad's debut album, Ben has recorded for upcoming pop/soul artist Miranda Powell and Southern rock duo Jaye Madison, (the latter of which achieved over 50,000 plays on Spotify alone with their single "Down"), while continuing to perform a variety of local and regional gigs of all genres. Additionally, Ben is passionate about developing and instilling a love of music in students. His philosophy is to encourage and foster each individual student’s unique love of music.
